Historical records · Periods vary by dataset
Explore registered deaths and reported dengue in Cebu, alongside regional cause-of-death records.
Death records
Counts of deaths registered with the civil registrar, by the usual residence of the person, as published by PSA. Counts are not death rates: a larger count does not by itself mean a greater risk for any one person.
Recorded causes
The PSA table lists causes at two levels: chapters (groups such as “Diseases of the circulatory system”) and the detailed categories inside them. The ranking above uses the detailed categories, which add up to the table total.
These groups are KlaroFlow’s presentation groups, built from the PSA chapters listed under each one. They are not clinical findings, and the records do not show where a condition started. Each PSA chapter sits in exactly one group, so the groups add up to the table total.
Dengue records
Weekly counts from DOH Epidemiology Bureau data, compiled by Cirrolytix and published through the Humanitarian Data Exchange. Every figure here is a reported case or a reported death; totals are sums of the weekly records that are available.
Sources & checks
PSA OpenSTAT tables 0361A1ADEA0 (registered deaths by usual residence and sex, 2013–2023) and 0421A1ADEA6 (by age group, sex and place of usual residence, 2023). These count deaths registered with a civil registrar for people whose usual residence was the place shown. Totals may change as late registrations are added. Check the period and publication status before comparing years.
This report’s selected cause-of-death tables provide regional figures: PSA tables 0481A1ADEB2 (2023) and 0131A1BDEE7 (2024 preliminary), Region VII (Central Visayas). In the 2023 table Region VII is Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor. The 2024 table lists the Negros Island Region separately, so its Region VII is Cebu and Bohol only. The two years are therefore not compared on this page.
Extracted through the PSA OpenSTAT API on 4 October 2026. The 2024 table carried the status “preliminary” at extraction and is shown with that label.
DOH Epidemiology Bureau data compiled by Cirrolytix and published on HDX under CC BY (columns loc, cases, deaths, date, Region); rows for Cebu, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City, 2016–2020. Five weeks in September and October 2017 record more deaths than cases in the file itself, and two weekly dates (12 November 2017 and 6 January 2019) are absent. These are shown as recorded and flagged, not corrected.
Figures are aggregated from the listed public records. They are counts, not rates, and they do not show why deaths changed, whether care was delayed, or why reported dengue fell. Presentation groups are KlaroFlow’s; the original PSA categories are available above.
For current health information, separate from these historical records: your barangay health station, your city or municipal health office, and the DOH Central Visayas regional office.
