Income & spending

Family income and spending, 2023

From PSA’s Family Income and Expenditure Survey. Figures are annual, per family, in pesos. The median is the middle family; the average is pulled up by a few high incomes.

Place (applies to this section)
Cebu Province here is PSA’s definition: the province without Cebu, Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue cities. Central Visayas and the Philippines are shown for context.

Poverty

Poverty incidence, with the survey margin

The share of families, or of people, whose income falls below PSA’s poverty threshold. Each estimate comes from a sample survey, so PSA publishes a 95% confidence interval; the bar shows the estimate and the line shows the interval.

Measure
Year
2021 was surveyed during the pandemic. When two intervals overlap, the records do not show that one place is poorer than the other.

PSA OpenSTAT tables 0021F3DF01A (families) and 0041F3DF02A (population), with the per capita poverty threshold, the incidence, its coefficient of variation, standard error and 95% confidence interval. The 2021 round was collected during the pandemic. This page shows the published figures and intervals and does not re-estimate anything.

2020 Census of Population and Housing

PSA OpenSTAT tables 0011A6DPHH0 (total population, household population, households) and 0031A6DPAG0 (population by age group and sex). Census counts as of 1 May 2020. PSA marks Cebu with an asterisk: the province figure excludes the three highly urbanized cities, which are listed separately.

What the figures can and cannot say

Survey figures are estimates with published margins; census counts are counts. None of them shows why incomes or poverty changed, and a 2023 survey does not describe today. Extracted through the PSA OpenSTAT API on .
